WWOOF Nigeria Media Director: Empowering Organic Certification for Nigerian Farmers

Certified organic farmers in Nigeria are rare, and obtaining certification can be a challenging and tedious process due to strict standards and terrain. To tackle this issue, WWOOF Nigeria and Vantage Organic Food Pvt India signed an agreement last year to certify over 2000 farmers. As the Media Director for this project, I am proud to be part of this effort to empower Nigerian farmers and promote sustainable agriculture.

Vantage Organic Food Pvt India is a major exporter of certified organic oil seeds to Europe, America, and Asia, and is expanding its reach to Tanzania and Nigeria. Through this project, farmers from Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Kogi, Benue, and Nasarawa were engaged to participate in the certification program.  Empowering Farmers through Organic Farming Training



Organizing and conducting training for farmers can be a challenging task. At WWOOF Nigeria, we traveled far and wide to engage farmers and their leaders, teaching them the benefits of organic farming practices. Through our training programs, we aim to empower farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to adopt sustainable farming practices and improve their livelihoods. We believe that by promoting organic farming practices, we can protect the environment, promote healthy living, and contribute to the development of local communities.

WWOOF Nigeria and Vantage Organic Foods Partner to Empower Farmers In a landmark agreement, Benjamin Olatilo of WWOOF Nigeria and Vipul Gupta, the CEO of Vantage Organic Foods Pvt India, joined hands to enroll and train over 2000 farmers in Nigeria on organic farming standards, implementation, documentation, and compliance. As part of the internal inspection team, we ensure strict compliance with NOP and Bio Swiss standards, setting a new standard for organic farming in Nigeria. This program marks the first-ever attempt to certify Nigerian farmers as organic, and we are proud to announce that we have achieved organic status so far. Through our joint efforts, we aim to empower farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to adopt sustainable farming practices and promote the growth of the organic farming industry in Nigeria.
