Purchase of irrigation system:

The irrigation system is a crucial aspect of the Moringa farming process, and it is necessary to have a good irrigation system to ensure the plants get adequate water supply. The cost of purchasing an irrigation system ranges from N350,000 to N800,000 depending on the size and type of irrigation system chosen. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of purchasing an irrigation system is N350,000.

Purchase of Reservoir/Tank: Thea reservoir/tank is used for storing water for the irrigation system. The cost of purchasing a reservoir/tank ranges from N33,000 to N60,000, depending on the size and type of reservoir/tank chosen. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of purchasing a reservoir/tank 1000 liters is N40,000.

Purchase of Pressure pump: The pressure pump is used to pump water from the reservoir/tank to the irrigation system. The cost of purchasing a pressure pump ranges from N15,000 to N80,000, depending on the size and type of pump chosen. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of purchasing a pressure pump is N50,000.

Cost of Installation of irrigation system: The cost of installation of the irrigation system is another factor to consider. The cost of installation ranges from N20,000 to N100,000, depending on the size of the farm and the type of irrigation system chosen. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of installation is N50,000.

Electrical/Plumbing works:

Electrical and plumbing works are essential for the installation of the irrigation system and the pressure pump. The cost of electrical/plumbing works ranges from N10,000 to N50,000, depending on the size of the farm and the complexity of the installation. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of electrical/plumbing works is N40,000.

Cost of Planting:

The cost of planting is the cost of acquiring the Moringa seeds and planting them. The cost of acquiring Moringa seeds ranges from N10 to N50 per seed, depending on the quantity purchased. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of acquiring Moringa seeds is N30,000.

Knapsack sprayer (2):

Knapsack sprayers are used for applying fertilizers and pesticides to the plants. The cost of acquiring a knapsack sprayer ranges from N6,000 to N15,000, depending on the type and size of the sprayer chosen. For a one-acre farm, the estimated cost of acquiring two knapsack sprayers is N30,000.

Miscellaneous

There are other expenses to consider, such  labor cost, transportation cost, and other unforeseen expenses. The estimated cost of miscellaneous expenses is N40,0 00

To start with, the proposed investment plan involves setting up a small-scale moringa farm that covers one acre of land. This project requires an initial investment of N722,000, which will cover the purchase of essential equipment, such as irrigation systems, a reservoir/tank, a pressure pump, knapsack sprayers, and other miscellaneous costs. Additionally, the project will also entail planting and electrical/plumbing works that will cost respectively.

The purchase of an irrigation system is essential for the success of the project as it will provide a constant supply of water to the farm. The reservoir/tank and pressure pump will also help to regulate the flow of water to the farm, making it possible to ensure that the plants get the right amount of water at the right time. The electrical and plumbing works,  will ensure that the entire irrigation system is installed correctly and is functioning optimally.

The project will also require the purchase of two knapsack sprayers. These sprayers will be used for pest control and to ensure that the plants remain healthy throughout their growth cycle. Finally, the miscellaneous cost will cater to the purchase of other small but essential items that may arise during the course of the project.

The moringa farm project has an impressive income potential, and it is expected to generate substantial returns in the first eight months. The farm's revenue stream will come from the sale of moringa leaves and seeds. The leaves are harvested every three weeks, and each harvest is expected to produce at least 70 bundles of moringa leaves. These bundles are sold at N3,000 to N5,000, generating revenue of N210,000 per harvest. With good farm management, the farm has the potential to generate N500,000 or more per month, resulting in over N4,000,000 in eight months.

Moreover, the moringa plant produces seeds that can be harvested and sold for additional income. Each seed is sold at N30, and each pod of moringa contains an average of 50 seeds. An acre of land produces an average of 200 pods, resulting in 10,000 seeds per acre. Therefore, the income from seeds per acre is expected to be N300,000.

The proposed investment plan in a small-scale moringa farm has the potential to generate impressive returns. Moringa is known to have significant health benefits and is becoming increasingly popular in the food and health industries. Its leaves and seeds are in high demand, and the market for them is continually expanding.
